Little Scholar Productions was established in 2001 by Lee Skinner, a Birmingham born animator who graduated from the University of Wales, Newport with a degree in animation. 

Rather than move to Cardiff, Bristol or London where the animation industry is strong, he came back home to the Midlands with the intention of contributing to the local film industry.  Since then, Lee Skinner has written, directed and animated four professional films as well as over 50 films with young people during workshops.

Although Lee is trained in computer animation he has always chosen to use traditional animation techniques, such as cell and clay, during both his professional work and the workshops. Lee is a very strong creative writer and found that animation was the best way of developing and portraying his ideas.

His university dissertation was an analysis of comedy in animation and how the different forms of comedy and character development create human laughter.  Apart from his own four films, Lee has helped to script film ideas for authors, poets and businesses wishing to develop their own concepts into a television show.
